MELUZINE CODEX MERCURY
The figure of the Cosmic Mermaid (aka Meluzine Codex Mercury) is a vessel for entering a fantasmagorical cosmic-aquatic world. In the world of cosmic garbage and the maritime remnants of consumer capitalism, she lives and composes with bodies, fabrics and fictions, trying to invent ways to survive in breathless circumstances. Meluzine emerged in 2020 during the revival of the solo Star Dust at the hybrid festival Dock11. From then on, she became a recurring visitor to SciFi Anatomy (SFA), my somatic storytelling practice. She loves to sing stories, often accompanied by "The Cosmic Band" consisting of Nina Hynes and Angela Munoz. The Cosmic Mermaid challenges the genders and genres of anatomy, science fiction, and mourning (for our human and superhuman dead), inviting audiences to embark on a transformative journey of introspection and reflection.
Meluzine's presence became concrete in performances that took place in different formats (e.g. single sessions, hybrid and online events, performance concerts and at venues such as Dock11 during the T.E.N.T Festival, Schauspielhaus Vienna, Uferstudios/ Heizhaus and in various residencies including "Meluzine & Cie" at Uferstudios and Lake Studios Berlin. Meluzine found some companions here and could experiment with becoming a collective.
